J. Marc Dion                               Attorney and Counselor at Law

Marc Dion is a two time recipient of the Ventura County Bar Association’s James D. Loebl Award, and he is a two time nominee of the California State Bar Jack Berman Award of Achievement for Distinguished Service to the Profession and Public.

Mr. Dion is the past President of the Ventura County Family Law Bar Association.   He was also appointed as the Legislative Coordinator for the California State Bar’s Standing Committee on Delivery of Legal Services.

Marc Dion grew up in Ventura County. He attended Moorpark College, graduated with his bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from California State University Bakersfield, and obtained a master’s degree (M.P.A.) from the University of Colorado, Denver.  He was offered a scholarship and attended law school at Creighton University where he participated in several competitions, including representing the school in the nationally held ABA negotiations competition.

Prior to receiving his Juris Doctor (J.D.), Mr. Dion had a career in law enforcement. During his law enforcement career in the state of Colorado he held positions as a police officer, patrol sergeant, state agent, and chief of police.  He also sat on many boards including regional drug task forces and child protection teams.

Mr. Dion began his legal career in Creighton University’s legal clinic representing low-income clients in court on family law and landlord-tenant cases. He went on to clerk for a Superior Court Judge and worked as an attorney with a law firm in Westlake Village before opening his own practice.  Marc is a trained mediator and excels at taking the time to explain the legal process to his clients.  He has the flexibility and skill to negotiate generous settlements or take your case to trial, depending on the specific outcome you desire.

Al Martinez                                   Attorney and Counselor at Law

Al Martinez grew up in Ventura County, and entered the United States Air Force in August 2000.  He graduated Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, Texas, and he is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer Academy and Airman Leadership School.

Mr. Martinez has been deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.  He transferred to the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 2004 and currently serves in the California Air National Guard.

Mr. Martinez received his baccalaureate degree in International Relations from San Francisco State University and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from San Francisco Law School.

Mr. Martinez has worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Criminal Division, for the Northern District of California. He has also done substantial work for the San Francisco Bar Association, Ventura County Bar Association Legal Services Program, and California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc.

Mr. Martinez has an excellent track record in family law, criminal defense, and landlord/tenant matters.

Serena Dion                                   Paralegal and Office Manager

Serena

Serena Dion has her Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies (A.S.), her Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from Buena Vista University, and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from California State University Channel Islands. She is also a certified mediator and is advanced Westlaw legal research certified.

Mrs. Dion began her legal career as a paralegal in a family law firm and is a past member of the Ventura County Paralegal Association.

Emily Dion-Staebell                     Legal Secretary

Emily attended Santa Monica Community College and recently changed schools to enroll the ABA certified Paralegal program West Los Angeles College.

While she attends her Paralegal programs she works with our office to gain valuable experience in the area of family law.
